Notice anything missing in this photo? I do. There is a light burned out right beside the barn. What a unique place for a light to not be lit!
My husband and I have talked about the dream of having a farm someday since we started dating. That was a decade ago. In fact, he was milking cows for the dairy farm at his college in those days.
When I stop to think about it, I get discouraged sometimes. The waiting can be difficult. But there is always something, no matter how small, that you can be doing right now to achieve your dreams for your future.
After reflecting on this crazy year, God revealed some things to me that show He is still listening, He is still here carrying us through life, and He has not forgotten our dreams either.
We have had some things holding us back from this dream, but the dream is just as strong as ever. So when I saw that barn ornament hanging there with the light burned out, it reminded me to light that fire in our hearts again to work towards that dream of having a farm even more despite recent setbacks.
I have faith that not only will God provide for us and look after us, He cares about our dreams! He wants us to succeed while serving His purpose and living for Him and always has the best timing. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
What are your dreams for the future? Maybe you set resolutions for the new year, but are they to achieve your big dreams, or to achieve smaller dreams to satisfy the trend of setting goals and checking them off your list this year?
We are taking this next year to really look at the big picture and work towards our big dreams. Only God knows when we will have a farm someday, but He is giving us the time to prepare for it in many ways now.
May God bless you with a prosperous year in 2021!
