Keeping Christ in Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, y’all! Can you believe Christmas is NEXT week?! Are you prepared? Have you purchased all of your gifts? Have you decided what you’re bringing to the Christmas party? Do you have something to wear to Christmas dinner? Have you wrapped everyone’s gifts and put them under the tree? Does any of this really matter?

The meaning of Christmas for many people is the wrong one. I’m being blunt about this because the true meaning of Christmas has been lost for so many. Christmas is a day of which we celebrate Jesus’ birthday, the birth of our Savior. Not sure how to keep Him front and center during all of the other less important celebrations? Here are some ways!

Read the story of Jesus’ birth in the Bible in the days leading up to Christmas. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen the scripture I’ve been posting daily for Christmas advent. There are many advent calendars out there with everything but anything pertaining to Jesus’ birthday. You can create your own calendar or find one online by searching “Scripture Advent Calendar.” They’re usually short readings, so if you’re reading this right before Christmas, you can play catch up!

Teach your children what Christmas is really about. This is so important for modern day Christians to do because God is being removed from basically everywhere. But the truth is, He can’t be forgotten. He created this world, and the only way to be saved and go to Heaven after this life is over, is to accept His Son as your Lord and Savior. Therefore, it is crucial to teach your children about Jesus! Although they should see Jesus in their everyday lives through your example, ‘Christ’mas is a great time to learn more about Christ’s birth.

Invite a friend to a Christmas Eve service at your church. Making sure our family is saved and understands the true meaning of Christmas is important, but so is leading others to Jesus and helping them understand what Christmas is about, too. Send a message on social media, text, call, or stop by a friend’s house and let them know when the service is and where your church is. Maybe you can even offer to let them carpool with you!

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11

I pray you all have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
