Happy New Year, friends!
Winter can be a tough season for a lot of people. One of the reasons I love living in the south is the mild winter we have. Sure, we see freezing temperatures, but it doesn’t last long. We know those warmer days will be sprinkled in amongst even the coldest of days, giving us a glimpse of the beautiful spring to come.
Nature can’t even hide its excitement. Last week we had one of those sweet, springtime weather days with a high of 70 degrees. I had to explore our yard and see what was growing.
My tiny azalea is thriving!
Buttercup daffodil sprouts peeking through
A row of arugula sprouts emerged
Lemon balm has new growth
Although small examples, these are reminders that plants want to grow…it’s what they were made to do! Winter serves its purpose, but I’d much prefer warmer days and all of the gardening that comes with it. In the middle of winter, I’m always looking toward spring’s return.
